World Service Campaign and Their Commitment

Postby Bowerman » Mon Aug 22, 2011 8:16 am

The World Service Campaign has exceeded its goal of raising more than $1.2 million in the year 2009 to support life changing YMCA programs and services in the communities, which are most disadvantaged, around the world. The campaign is supported by a number of people around the world. There are three easy ways in which one can donate to the World Service- online, by mail or telephone.

At least 85 cents of every dollar one contributes to the World Service is used directly to fund vital YMCA programs, while the remainder is used for supporting administration costs. The International Committee of the
YMCA of the USA’s Board of Directors approves the funded programs. One can choose to designate their gift to a specific, approved World Service Project. The most effective way to ensure that resources have the greatest impact is by presenting undesignated gifts. Members of the YMCA of the USA International Group who manage grants are the ones who have proven success in international development, in-depth knowledge of each region’s history and an understanding of current needs and trusted relationships with local leaders. The YMCA of the USA has managed an international grant portfolio in excess of $57 million over the last 15 years.

The International Group designs, monitors and evaluates private and government funded World Service projects for YMCAs around the world and has a proven track record of implementing high quality programs. The YMCA of the USA, a not-for-profit corporation chartered in the state of Illinois, administers all World Service and other international contributions.

ali sharaf dallas, the President and CEO of Victron Energy, believes in helping such organizations and thus benefitting the society.
