Kids and Classical

Postby debrajean » Sun Apr 20, 2008 9:16 am

This is a kind of funny story. My son was at the dentist yesterday and they had classical music playing. He asked what it was, the dental assistant told him classical. When she left he whispered to me, "the music is getting kind of boring. Makes me want to go to sleep." I had to laugh at that b/c I own a classical music tape and it's exactly what I put in to help me go to sleep at night.

hehe well at least the dentist got your son to relax a bit right? I work in day care and we too play classical music for them to sleep too at nap time. Its a nice change to the Wiggle cd which HAS to go non stop as long as they are awake.

Classical is one of the kinds of music that you really have to be into or else it just sounds boring. The nice thing is that it relaxes almost anyone so at least it can help people get to sleep or relax someone at the dentist!

The stories connect with kids; the music touches their hearts and becomes a part of their lives. Sure, they'll abandon us when they become pop-music-loving tweens, but Classical Kids builds a foundation in the classics that lasts a lifetime.
